Our July monthly launch is this Saturday. Setup will start at 7am, with the range opening once setup is finished. Help with setup and teardown is always appreciated.
The forecast calls for a sunny, dry, calm and hot day with a high in the mid 90s. Be sure to bring plenty of water and sun protection. Arrive and fly early to beat the heat-the range won’t stay open late if it’s too hot and there aren’t many flights.
June ROCstock is right around the corner folks! Launching will begin as soon as the range is set up Fri morning, June 8th, and there will be a night launch Saturday evening. Standing altitude waiver is for 14,500 AGL, with call-in windows to 19,000 AGL. Remember that ROC Executive Members fly free! The non-member launch fee is $30 for all three days-there is no per-day fee. Please see the ROC website to JOIN and for other information. Joining ROC must be done via the website and CANNOT be done on the lakebed. Be sure to pack and dress for the weather, it will be very hot, very dry and very sunny. See our survival page for more information. As a reminder, all campfire and stove users must acquire a California fire permit, which can be obtained here: http://www.preventwildfireca.org
We’re looking forward to seeing everyone this weekend. We hope to have the range open at 7:00 and will flying until we run out of rockets or the weather deteriorates. Please note that it is expected to be cloudy Saturday morning and likely rainy later, so please plan on being flexible with your motor choices to avoid flying above the cloud ceiling. Additionally, given the weather, it is always possible we will shut down within a few hours of opening up at 7am, so if you have important flights, be sure to arrive as early as possible. Help with setup and tear down is always appreciated. As usual, dress for the weather and pack out what you pack in.
Additionally, please note that we will not have any vendors onsite for this launch.
ROC will not be holding a launch in May 2018. Instead, we encourage everyone to attend LDRS 37 which Tripoli Central California (TCC) is hosting near Helm, CA May 16-20.
Event details are at LDRS37.org and questions related to the event should be directed to their website. Registration for the event is open, and if you register online before March 31, 2018, you can save $10 over the on-site rate.
Due to continued pooling of water and muddy conditions persisting on the lake bed from the rain earlier this week, the BOD has decided to cancel the January launch. We apologize for the late notice and hope to see everyone in February.
