Nov ROCstock Postponed, 3-Day ROCstock Dec 7, 8, 9th!

The November 10-11 ROCstock has been cancelled. ROCstock has been rescheduled for December. This will be a three day event beginning Friday, December 7th, going through Sunday afternoon, December 9th.

Although conditions on the lakebed continue to improve, they are still not acceptable to hold a launch. ROC is working closely with the BLM and a grading contractor to restore the site to acceptable conditions.

Board of Director Election results will be announced via roc-chat/announce and posted to the website the weekend of November 10th. Voting will close as originally announced November 8th. The Annual Membership Meeting will be held at ROCstock the afternoon of December 8th. The new Board of Directors will again be announced during the Membership Meeting and will meet thereafter to vote for 2019 officers.

See everyone in December!

Saturday 5am weather update

Steady rain since Midnight. Still raining. Will post Updates as we can. We’ll report on lakebed conditions as soon as we sun up and we can see things.

July Launch

Our July monthly launch is this Saturday. Setup will start at 7am, with the range opening once setup is finished. Help with setup and teardown is always appreciated.
The forecast calls for a sunny, dry, calm and hot day with a high in the mid 90s. Be sure to bring plenty of water and sun protection. Arrive and fly early to beat the heat-the range won’t stay open late if it’s too hot and there aren’t many flights.

ROCstock June 8-10

June ROCstock is right around the corner folks! Launching will begin as soon as the range is set up Fri morning, June 8th, and there will be a night launch Saturday evening. Standing altitude waiver is for 14,500 AGL, with call-in windows to 19,000 AGL. Remember that ROC Executive Members fly free! The non-member launch fee is $30 for all three days-there is no per-day fee. Please see the ROC website to JOIN and for other information. Joining ROC must be done via the website and CANNOT be done on the lakebed. Be sure to pack and dress for the weather, it will be very hot, very dry and very sunny. See our survival page for more information. As a reminder, all campfire and stove users must acquire a California fire permit, which can be obtained here: http://www.preventwildfireca.org

March Launch

We’re looking forward to seeing everyone this weekend. We hope to have the range open at 7:00 and will flying until we run out of rockets or the weather deteriorates. Please note that it is expected to be cloudy Saturday morning and likely rainy later, so please plan on being flexible with your motor choices to avoid flying above the cloud ceiling. Additionally, given the weather, it is always possible we will shut down within a few hours of opening up at 7am, so if you have important flights, be sure to arrive as early as possible. Help with setup and tear down is always appreciated. As usual, dress for the weather and pack out what you pack in.

Additionally, please note that we will not have any vendors onsite for this launch.
